Hi, I'm Amanda.
I spent years watching people get blindsided by their own insurance. Now I help them see it coming.
How I got here
I worked in dental for 10 years, mostly on the provider side as a hygienist. Which means I've been the person on hold with an insurance company for forty minutes. I've fought prior authorizations. I've stood at a front desk and explained to someone that the procedure their plan said was covered somehow wasn't.
People almost never find out what their insurance actually does until they need it. By then it's too late to change anything.
Then my mom turned 65, and I watched her try to sort through Medicare alone. The mail was the worst part. Envelope after envelope, all of it urgent-looking, all of it saying something a little different. She had real questions, and most of the people calling her were more interested in signing her up than answering them.
So I sat down and helped her work through it. And somewhere in the middle of that I realized I already understood half of this, I could learn the rest, and there were a lot of other people sitting at their kitchen tables with the same pile of mail and nobody to call.
I got licensed in 2023. Now it's the whole job.
How I work:
We start with your situation
Your doctors. Your prescriptions. What you can afford, whether you travel, whether you're managing something ongoing. All of that changes which options make sense for you, and none of it fits on a comparison chart.
I explain things in plain English
If I use a word you haven't heard before, stop me and I'll explain it. Nobody is born knowing what a formulary is. There's no reason you should have to sit there nodding along and hope you figure it out later.
I stick around after you enroll
Enrollment day is the easy part. The questions come later, when a prescription gets kicked back or the card doesn't work at the pharmacy counter. That's when you call me. It's the part of the job I'm actually here for.
When I'm not doing this.
I live in the Salt Lake Valley with my husband, our daughter, and our firstborn (a poodle who has never accepted his demotion). Outside of work I'm usually outside. Hiking, biking, skiing, rock climbing. When the weather wins, I'm playing Mahjong with friends.
Fair warning: I'm a hugger. Most of my clients get one on the way out the door. It's nearly non-negotiable.
The practical details.
If you're staring at a pile of mail right now and you don't know where to start, that's exactly the call I want you to make.
I'm an independent broker. I'm not employed by any single insurance company, and I work with a number of different carriers.
I'm licensed in Utah, Idaho, Washington, Nevada, and Montana. Most of my clients are right here in the Salt Lake Valley.
